For Immediate Release TEDxIntrepidAveED To Host Virtual Event on Education in Greater Philadelphia Featuring 5 Pivotal Speakers
Philadelphia, February 24, 2021 – The organizers of TEDxIntrepidAveED invite the community to explore big ideas and take action to build a better world. On May 15, 2021, we are hosting a hybrid event themed “Pivotal”, geared at engaging community leaders, creatives, and humanists on the future of education in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Partnering with us are five voices who will share their hopes and ideas for the future of education. One of the voices is Benjamin Pietrzyk, Director of Entrepreneur Mentoring, Uncommon Individual Foundation. Ben is a social entrepreneur who believes that real change can only be achieved by ‘Marry[ing] the Problem... Date[ing] the Solution’. His alternate approach to entrepreneurship is finding the right problem rather than building the right solution.
Another voice that will be heard at the event is that of William Tyrone Toms, Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer, REC Philly, who questions just how well we are preparing young people to own their future - true freedom. The presentation will explore representation, collectivism, and ownership in the face of challenge income and racial inequity. Other speakers to be featured include Melody Wright, Tiara Will and Chidi Asoluka.
We believe in ideas worth spreading, deep discussions and connections. Our “Pivotal Talks” aim to inspire and spark new ways of building a better world. “My intention is that our attendees leave our event inspired, with a deeper commitment to their purpose.” TEDxIntrepidAveED organization team lead Neferteri Strickland
We’re inviting you to join us in discovering hope, exploring the unconventional, and
discussing new ideas for our region and our country. Though the event is virtual, our speakers will be live at Quorum at the University City Science Center located at 3675 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
It promises to be a fulfilling event. Stay in our circle and keep abreast by following us on social media. Don’t forget to sign up through Eventbrite to be notified when tickets go on sale.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED conferences, intimate TED Salons and thousands of independently organized TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available, free, on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of TED Talks are published to TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms.
TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses thousands of individuals and groups to host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities; The Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas that have the potential to impact millions of lives; TED Translators, which crowdsources the subtitling of TED Talks so that big ideas can spread across languages and borders; and the educational initiative TED-Ed.
TED also offers TED@Work, a program that reimagines TED Talks for workplace learning. TED also has a growing library of original podcasts, including The TED Interview with Chris Anderson, WorkLife with Adam Grant, Pindrop and TEDxSHORTS.
